Sharing: Home Visit 2014

As there was a family matter, I went to hometown, Jombang, on Oct 10, 2014.  For sure, I am grateful to my community that I could spend my vacation and annual retreat in Indonesia this year.
I had a chance to meet my family, relatives and friend in Madiun, Sidoarjo, Mojosari and Tulungagung.  I also had a chance to meet several friends at Museum Gallery Misi Surabaya http://museummisi.org/.

I went to the Post Graduate Seminary of the Vincentian Fathers in Malang on Oct 17 – 25 for my annual retreat.  I attended the daily Eucharist with the seminarians and said the morning and evening prayer privately.  I had a chance to share a little bit about my vocation journey and Maryknoll Sisters including my pink habit with the seminarians as I had delicious meals, three times rice meals, with them.

Prof. Dr. Armada Riyanto, CM, retreat master, gave reflection on Jn 4: 1- 30 Jesus Talks with a Samaritan Woman, Gn 22: 1-19  Abraham tested, Lk 5: 1-11 Jesus Calls His First Disciples, Ex 3: 1 – 4: 17 Moses at the Burning Bush, Jn 17: 1 -26 Jesus Prays for His Disciples, Lk 24: 13-35 The Road to Emmaus.  Fr. Armada also asked me to reflect on part of the books “Sahabat-sahabat Tuhan dan Orang Miskin (=Friends of God and the Poor),” “Interreligious Dialogue and Formation” and “Menjadi-Mencintai (=Being-Loving).”   I couldn’t hold my tears when I read personalized Jn 17: 1-26.   I attended the study day at School of Philosophy and Theology Widya Sasana Malang on Oct 25 with the theme “Dimana Letak Kebahagiaan (=Where is Happiness)?"  It was presented from Philosophical, Biblical, Historical and Empirical views and was very well attended by the priests, sisters, seminarians, and lay people from several cities nearby.  I also reflected this topic during the retreat, and my answer is in doing God’s will so I am convinced, again, to continue my vocation journey, as a Maryknoll Sister.

The seminarians prepared a birthday celebration for one of the seminarians and a farewell for me by having second dinner on Oct 24.  They bought fried duck and cooked fettuccine besides giving me a pink pig toy as a farewell gift.

It’s really a blessing to be home at this time, to experience again God’s presence in my life through my family, relatives, and friends, and especially the annual retreat.

Sharing: Gathering of Sisters Working in Shenzhen

There are twelve sisters, including myself, working in several churches in Shenzhen now.  Eleven of us are from several dioceses in the north of mainland.  There has been come and go during the past two years.
The first opportunity for all the sisters to have meal together was during the feast day of St. Francis Xavier’s Church last year.
There was a retreat for all sisters and priests in Christ the King Church Bao An district early this year and it was the first time gathering of sisters working in Shenzhen.
The second gathering was held at St. Paul’s Church Nan Tou district. Fr. Zhang and 8 sisters had hot pot lunch prepared by three parishioners followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
The third gathering was held at a restaurant near St. Anthony’s Church Fu Tian district followed by going around the Children Park near St. Anthony’s Church.  There were 9 sisters during the gathering.
Fr. Lu treated 8 of us in a restaurant near Holy Family Church Luo Hu district.  Four sisters should leave after lunch due to commitment in the parish and long trip back to their Church.  Four sisters, including myself, watched the movie “Of God and Men” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Of_Gods_and_Men_%28film%29)
It was agreed that each community will take turn as the host of the gathering and it will be held every month or once in two months on Mondays depend on the availability of the sisters.  It has been a very nice gathering.

Sharing: The Third Youth Gathering at Holy Family Church

With the help of several volunteers, I organized the third youth gathering at Holy Family Church on September 20.  The theme was “Love, Sex, Life and I” and was attended by more than 40 youth from different Churches in Shenzhen including the volunteers.  The Shenzhen Youth Catholic chat group, which was formed after the first youth gathering at Holy Family Church, helped to spread the news as it has more than 220 members from Shenzhen and neighboring cities.
The registration was begun at 9:30 a.m., several youths attended the morning Mass then two of them helped to clean the Church.   While waiting the gathering, we showed the pictures from the second youth gathering, which was compiled by Ms. Lin.  She also prepared the PPT of the flow of the morning gathering.  Fr. Lu delivered his welcoming speech after teaching the action of the song “爱使我们相聚在一起“ (=Love make us want to be together).  He led us to sing “爱使我们相聚在一起 “ as our opening prayer.   Here is the link of the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRGteBzSPyM

With the help of several participants by asking them to read part of the presentation, I delivered the presentation “Love, Sex, Life and I,”  including showing “The Most Precious Gift” and the movie “The Process of Conception and Embrionic Development” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdovR3aJ92U), which was added with the voice of my tutor Ms. Sharon explaining the process according to  http://wenku.baidu.com/link?url=Fik8PPFzutnoIX3Ju1PJD4sNizVex1uzuD0pgLP4DXpTmr9tPWM9y7uKjnoXMrdUPabneD-lsYW1dqCZ48gWYNx43_NYNAyOllTd-feqFAi.  The presentation was part of the presentations prepared by The Hong Kong Catholic Marriage Advistory Council and Hong Kong Diocesan Pastoral Commission for Marriage and the Family.
After the presentation, we went to Dong Hu Park followed by potluck lunch.  Ms. Ye led the ice breaking and the game “Do you love me?”  Ms. Liang led the small group discussion after telling the story of the movie “Bella” which was shown last August 30, followed by group discussion led by Mr. Wu.  Everyone on the group should introduce himself/herself before presenting the small group discussion.  Mr. Liu led the evaluation, followed by game led by Mr. Dai and Ms. Luo.  Fr. Lu and I summarized the gathering before the praise and worship and dinner in small group.
Several youth attended the anticipated Sunday Mass by sitting together on the front rows, several youth were volunteering for the Mass, and several youth went home especially the ones from other Churches.  All the small group sharing was paste to the cross and brought forward during the offering of the Mass.
Most of the participants wrote“很好“(=very good) and”非常好” (=great) on the evaluation and wish to have more youth gatherings because they can meet more youth, learn and share about faith.
