I attended Maryknoll Asia South Gathering at Salesian Retreat House Hua Hin Thailand last January 7-15, 2018. There was more than 45 people attending the gathering of Maryknoll Family (Society, Congregation, Lay Missioners, Philippines Lay Missioners and China Teachers Program) from Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, China (and Hong Kong), Taiwan, East Timor, Nepal, Peru, and Bangladesh.
Fr. Larry Lewis, MM led the retreat on “Our incompleteness is our dignity” on January 8 - 12. He shared several quotations that he compiled. We watched several movies in the evening and had short discussion about it the next morning. There are opportunities to meet him for spiritual direction in the afternoon.
There was Maryknoll Asia South Meeting on Jan 13 for Maryknoll Society, Maryknoll Sisters, Maryknoll Lay Missioners and Philippines Lay Missioners followed by Simplicity Night.
There was welcome ceremony of Sr. Susan Wansagi; jubilee celebration of Sr. Len Montiel and Br. Joe Bruener; farewell for Sr. Len Montiel and Sr. Julia Shideler during the daily Masses.
Fr. Larry Radice, MM showed the solar panel cooker and gave presentation on climate change.
I had a chance to go to the
beautiful beach near Salesian retreat house.
I stayed overnight in Bangkok and had a chance to visit Maryknoll Office, Assumption Cathedral, Grand Palace, Wat Arun with Sr. Espie, morning walk at a park with Fr. Joe and Sr. Espie, had dinner with Fr. Tom and Fr. Joe, besides meeting my uncle.

It’s a blessed gathering as it gives me time to reflect on holy coincidences in my incompleteness and to be grateful besides the opportunity to exchange stories with the rest of the group: Maryknoll Society, Maryknoll Lay Missioners, Philippine Catholic Lay Missioners and China Teachers Program.
