With
the help of several volunteers, I organized the sixth gathering of Holy Family
Church on March 7, 2015 The theme was “Catholic Social Teaching” and was
attended by more than 40 youth from different Churches in Shenzhen including
the volunteers.
The registration was begun at 9:30 a.m. Several
youths attended the morning Mass.
While waiting the gathering, we showed the video of the activities during the
youth gatherings. I prepared the PPT of the flow of the gathering. Ms.
Wu and Xie taught the action song of “把冷漠变成爱” (=Changing the coldness to love) followed by welcoming speech by Fr. Lu. He led us to sing “把冷漠变成爱“
as our opening prayer. Here is the link of the video: http://video.baomihua.com/url44721876/28671716?ab02
Sr. Huang decided
to share several the social works in mainland instead of delivering the
presentation “Catholic Social Teaching,” which I got
from the Justice and Peace Commission of Hong Kong Diocese.
After the sharing, I asked the participants
to discuss a charity work while having lunch in a small group. The charity work should be done together as a
small group and they should go back to the Church before 3.00 p.m. Fr. Lu, Sr. Huang and I had a lunch
together. Four small groups cleaned up
the Church including the toilet, one small group picked up garbage at the
street and one small group went to Dong Hu Park to distribute Women’s Day card
to the students.
Ms. Deng shared her experiences about her
charity works followed by presentation by Ms. Yun about our Bible Study
Group. Ms. Luo led the small group
sharing including how they made the decision to do the charity work followed by
group reports led by Mr. Wu. Most of the groups were thinking to pick up
garbage at the first place but then they decided to clean the Church. Everyone on the small group should introduce
himself/herself before presenting the small group discussion.
The youth from St. Francis Xavier Church, the
choir of Christ the King
Church introduced their
group followed by Mr. Wu who introduced Holy Family Youth Gathering.
Fr. Lu said he was moved when he saw the
youth picked up garbage at the street.
He summarized the gathering before dinner. We distributed our 2015 Lenten Campaign
Plastic Folder with RMB 5.00 inside and hopefully they will join us do it.
Several youth attended the anticipated Sunday
Mass by sitting together on the front rows, several youth were volunteering for
the Mass, and most youth went home especially the ones from other
Churches.
